Multiple Teams · Girls Basketball vs Wasatch

On Friday January 29, the Lady Lions basketball team took on the Wasatch Wasps.  The Lions came in with an early lead in the 1st quarter, outscoring the Wasps 14-6.  Despite Payson holding the lead throughout the game, Wasatch was able to cut it down to a one possession game going into the 4th quarter with the score 30-28.  The Lions again managed to outscore the Wasps in the 4th quarter beating them 40-36, giving the Lions their second region win.  

Both teams had key players including, Taylor Hardman, Wasatch’s season leading scorer, who was able to put up 12 points accompanied by 4 rebounds and 1 steal. NaKell McCloud, a sophomore at Payson, who was able to put up 6 points.  Ultimately though it was Teagan Mahoney of Payson who lead her team to victory scoring a game-high 14 points.
